JSU Band Day Information 9/23/2017 ![]()
The annual JSU Band Day is an event held every year at Jax State that offers high school band students the opportunity to be a “Marching Southerner for a Day.” Several of our recent band graduates from Southside are now members of the JSU Southerners and The PRIDE traditionally has one of the largest groups to participate in band day every year. For $20, participants receive admission to the game, lunch, and instruction from JSU’s top-notch corps of section leaders who will help prepare students to join the Marching Southerners on the field for performance! Participants will also get to sit in the stands next to the Southerners and help them cheer on the Gamecocks as they go head-to-head against Liberty University! Not an instrumentalist? That’s fine! You can still be a part of Band Day! Color guard members will receive instruction from some of the Southerners Color Guard's top members. Guard members are asked to only bring a flag. Majorettes and dance line members will have the opportunity to work with the famous Marching Ballerinas. Drum Majors will get the chance to work with the Southerners' Drum Majors and when it's time to perform, they will get to conduct more than 500 of the South's best and brightest musicians! SCHEDULE 1:00 pm – Meet @ SHS Bandroom/Load Trailer 1:25 pm – Depart for Jacksonville, AL 2:00 pm – Arrive at JSU/Check-in (Bibb Graves Hall) 3:00 pm – Sectionals with Southerners Staff (Outside. Bring sunscreen! You WILL be in the sun) 4:00 pm –Rehearsal with The Marching Southerners! 4:30 am – 5:10 pm: Pizza lunch on the lawn of Bibb Graves Hall (provided) 5:30 pm – Report to stadium (Perform with the Southerners at halftime) 6:00pm – Kickoff – GO GAMECOCKS!!!!! If you are still interested in attending as a chaperone after the allotted spots are taken the cost is just $5. 2017 District II Honor Band Information Congratulations! Making the District II Honor Band represents a lot of hard work and dedication! We are very proud of each one of you!! Below you will find a schedule of events and other useful information. When: March 10-11, 2017 Where: Albertville High School Fine Arts Center Principals’ Excused: Yes Transportation: *We will carpool to Albertville from SHS both mornings and for all meals. (Please sign and return the Travel Permission Form to Mrs. Probst or Mr. Weaver by Wed. March 8). You may of course chose to provide transportation for your child. ABA District II Honor Band 2017 Clinicians: Dr. C. MPA After School Rehearsals – Other School Activities Conflict
Dear Parents & Students, As you know, we are currently preparing for State Music Performance Assessment. We are to the point now in our calendar when we begin to hold after school rehearsals with both ensembles and their percussion. We encourage our students to participate in everything our school has to offer. This can however cause stress sometimes when conflicts arise. Don’t worry though! We have a wonderful working relationship with our athletic coaches. We are all here for the kids! Our policy for conflicts is this:

2017 Spring Trip CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE Dear Band Students and Parents, It’s time to announce our annual Spring Trip! On Saturday, March 18th, we will be taking a day trip to the Tennessee Aquarium and Southern Belle Riverboat Cruises in Chattanooga, TN. Just $75 provides a full day of fun including transportation, tickets, three meals, and a tee shirt! We want to give every one plenty of time to bring in the money, so we have set the deadline to turn in money for Friday, March 3rd. This is the absolute last day to reserve a spot! All high school band members (includes 8th grade marchers) and parents are welcome to attend! We hope your child will be able to enjoy this reward to celebrate a wonderful year of hard work! ALL STATE BAND AUDITION INFORMATION Saturday January 14th, 2017 Hello Students and Parents, You are receiving this email because your child showed interest and was registered for All-State Honor Band! That being said, the audition is upon us! If your child still plans to audition, all the information you need is below. Good luck!! Remember, students and parents are responsible for their own transportation to this event; however, we do encourage you to carpool and have fun! Location: Saturday, January 14th at Albertville High School 402 East McCord Ave, Albertville, AL 35950 Registration: AHS cafeteria from 8am -10am *We recommend that you arrive between 8:00 and 8:30, so you can beat the masses. Student specific audition times will be sent to us tomorrow, and we will send these times to you as soon as we get them. Regardless of your child’s audition time, he/she MUST be registered before 10:00 a.m. Transportation: Students and parents are responsible for their own transportation to this event; however, we do encourage you to carpool and have fun! Please let us know if you need help setting up a carpool! Also, there is no food available at the audition site, so students will need to plan on travelling off campus to get lunch, or bring a lunch!
