MON 10/30 2nd Annual Fall Concert! Pumpkin Decorating Contest – 4:30 pm in the lunchroom Spaghetti Supper – 5:00 pm in the lunchroom (plates at the door are $7.50) The pumpkin with the most votes during the supper will be our winner. The winner will be announced during the concert & receive a cash prize! Concert Begins – 6:00 pm in the Calvin L. Biddle Auditorium Student Report Time: 5:30 pm (Symphonic Band on STAGE / W.E. in the band room) TUES 10/31 Happy Halloween! Band Room will close at 3 pm. WED 11/1 THURS 11/2 MARCHING BAND STADIUM REHEARSAL: 5:45 – 8:00pm *Senior Run-through: 7:15 PM The senior run through is a fun tradition to end our marching band rehearsal season. The class of 2018 will be given the opportunity to watch the final run through of the show & then, they will perform our 2017 production by themselves! Come out to Barney Hood stadium and help us send of this amazing group of seniors. Members will be called down by section to receive their 3rd quarter meal. Members are not allowed to leave the band section during 3rd quarter. Dear Seniors & Parents;
Where has the time gone? It’s hard to believe that the class of 2018 is here! We are all VERY proud of you and all of your accomplishments over the past four years. This Friday, seniors and their families will be recognized during the pregame ceremony of our last home game. Below is information for both seniors and their families to review carefully. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the band office. -Mr. Weaver & Mrs. Hammock Announcement Forms: Senior Forms were given to students in class yesterday. These forms must be completed no later than today (10/19). *Please note that only seniors and their parent’s names will be announced, but anyone can join the student on the field. Escorts: Our understanding is that seniors may be escorted by members of their immediate family; however, only seniors and their parents will have their names announced. Flowers: The PRIDE Music Association will provide flowers for every senior. These will be distributed at 6:00 at staging. Report Times & Locations: Seniors are to report to the band room with the rest of “The PRIDE” at 5:30pm. Parents & other family members who are accompanying seniors should arrive at Barney Hood Stadium no later than 5:45pm. Staging: 6:00pm – West endzone (near the scoreboard where the band sits) SHS Faculty & Administrators will be there to line seniors up by alphabetical order, please listen carefully for instructions. 6:15/20 pm – Senior Night begins Hello PRIDE, Please see the EF profile for Lisa, a Swedish exchange student who needs a home. Lisa would love to come to Southside and join The PRIDE. Remember that if a band family decide to host, the band will earn $200.00. Please contact us if you're interested!

The PRIDE Music Association has been given 2 tickets to the SEC Championship Game to raffle! We need your help to sell them. Anyone willing to take some tickets to sell for $10.00 each, collect money and return money and stub with name and phone number on stub on or before November 13, 2017, please contact a PMA board member, get request to us through your band student. The winning tickets will be drawn November 16th at our annual PRIDESGIVING meal. This fundraiser has cost us nothing to run. All profits will be used towards a new equipment truck. To All Southside Band Members & Parents,
The PRIDE Music Association Booster club is sponsoring a “Spaghetti Supper” on October 30, 2017 before our annual Fall Concert. The meal will be served at 5 pm before the 6 pm concert in the SHS Cafeteria. We are asking your help to sell $5 supper tickets (adult and child tickets are the same price) to your family, friends, and fellow non-band member students. Those who do not buy tickets before the supper may purchase them for $7.50 at the door and join us for the meal. Ten tickets will be in an envelope and issued to each band student. You are responsible for returning $50.00 or money for tickets sold and any unsold tickets on Wednesday, 10/25/17. If you need more than 10 tickets you can sign out an extra envelope. Food will be ordered on Thursday, 10/26/17, based on the number of tickets sold determined by money turned in. In addition, the PMA is holding a Pumpkin Decorating Contest! To enter, bring your decorated pumpkin at 4:30 pm to the cafeteria on the 30th, and you will be assigned a number. Your pumpkin and assigned number will serve as table decorations during the supper. After our guests enjoy their meal they will be encouraged to vote for their favorite pumpkin by purchasing a $1 vote. The pumpkin with the most votes will be awarded a cash prize. Prizes for most votes will be $50 for most, $25 for 2nd most votes, and $10 for 3rd most votes. Pumpkins will be taken home after concert. *The PMA will also be selling a SEC raffle tickets (drawing 11/16/17), (final chance to purchase) old uniforms and candy bars. Go PRIDE GO!! -Mr. Weaver & Mrs. Hammock The University of Alabama Trombone Studio and Tuba Studio is thrilled to host the members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra Low Brass Section for a Recital and Masterclass on December 3, 2017.
Tickets for the Recital can be purchased at the door. The Masterclass is free and open to the public! We hope you will join us for this exciting event! |
